I bloomin' loved him, even though he was a Liverpool fan and celebrated on stage them beating us in 1965, I think he was at the Palladium at the time

Not a favourite of mine as a comedian but I rated him as a singer. I actually worked alongside a district judge who in her younger days was one of the " Diddy Men " she rated him as a person very highly.

A friend of mine saw him two years ago before emigrating, knowing it would be his last chance.
He pretty much always played for two to three hours and usually they had to drag him off stage.
He must have had a phenomenal mind to be able to do that in his late 80s
