Forgot to mention that i miss the Cod or whiting fish they used to have in Ireland which i used to love. Here they usually have bangus which is called milkfish in English and i love it especially when its fried and boneless. Talapia is another fish people like to fry or grill up here but its a river fish and although i do eat it with my homemade chips at times i much prefer a sea fish like bangus and the burgers made with tuna flakes.
You can take me away from the UK and Ireland, But you can't take the Anglo Irish diet away from me.
Fish & chips
Re: Fish & chips
I once asked the guy who owned the fish & chip shop in Gildersome, why the skin is always 'off' in Yorkshire but always 'on' down in the south. He said that you can cook the fish without the skin when it is fresh. If its not fresh you have to leave the skin on to prevent it crumbling into mush.NottinghamWhite wrote:I could live with that if I’m ‘onest. I remember a similar thread on here a few years back, when whether you should have skin on or off the fish I’m a skin off man missenWigan White wrote:

Must admit I like either cod or haddock no overly fussed which one I have. North Bay actually fry the fish & chips in dripping ( not necessarily good for you ) & you can scraps for free.

For NW or anyone else that goes to Scarboro from time to time.
We had a day in Scarboro last week and ate at a fish restaurant called Mother Hubbards (near the station), not the cheapest but thought the quality was really good. So can recommend
