One thing i would say is that the Shopping experience is still a important part of the day for some people of a certain age. We have quite afew customers who come in the shop on a daily basis (part of their daily routine i would imagine) and you can tell they look forward to speaking to somebody. I think some customers like to make use of their free buss pass aswell.
Am i right in thinking if they don't have your exact item, then they will substitute it for something similar, and what happens if you have a quality issue with some items do you just send them back with the driver?
I was a student at Sainsburys when I was younger and we always had old dears coming in for a chat.
One thought I was a deadringer for Stewart Granger (I had hair back then) and would badger me for a good twenty minutes on a Saturday, typically across three visits : "Oh, I forgot the cat food. Did you ever see The Prisoner of Zenda ?"
God I'd have hated to have been her prisoner
