"Remember, I won't be there when you cross the road!" RIP Dave
Loved the clip on the news with Dave delivering a Star Wars line in his normal voice. I can understand why James Earl Jones was used but a thin Bristolian accent would have given Darth Vader a weird humanising touch. :)

Dave Prowse, dressed as the Green Cross Code man, was my examiner when I passed my cycling proficiency test, way back in the day. We knew that he was coming and I prayed that he would turn up dressed as Darth Vader.

Yes, I didn't realise it was him at first. Sounded really frail. The voice of golf in his younger days, there won't be another like him. RIP.

So sad.

I'll always remember his commentary perhaps 15, maybe 20 years ago. The wonderful Darren Clarke was going through some weight issues. The camera panned over to him, leaning back on his golf bag, large mid rif protruding, cigar in hand. Peter says: "And there's Darren Clarke..... he's a fine lad, isn't he?"

RIP Peter.

RIP Chuck Yeager.

Wow, what a guy.
A proper hero, aviation pioneer and war-time ace in both WWII and Vietnam.
Talk about "the right stuff".
A beautiful obit. in today's Guardian as well as a gallery of his life with some wonderful images.
