Mine :-

Burt Lancaster - Birdman of Alcatraz (From Here to Eternity runs it close)
Clint Eastwood - The Outlaw Josey Wales (Lots to choose from but this definitely my No1)
Charles Bronson - Hard Times (just edges out the obvious such as Great Escape, Dirty Dozen, Mgnificent Seven & Death Wish)
John Wayne - The Searchers (Ha to be a western but a special mention to Rio Bravo & True Grit)
Gene Hackman - Couldn't pick between Mississippi Burning & The French Connection (Big List of great films this man has been in)
Paul Newman - Cool Hand Luke (again lots of choice)
Russell Crowe - Cinderella Man (Best Boxing picture ever IMHO)
Morgan Freeman - Shawshank Redemption (Another with so many great films and would have been easy to go for Million Dollar Baby or The Unforgiven)
Steve McQueen - Papillon (Great Escape, Towering inferno, Bullitt or Magnificen Seven were all considered)
Jude Law _ Cold Mountain (Cracking film)
Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.

For me -

Burt Lancaster - agree with Selby with his 2 picks but Birdman wins it, special mention to Zulu Dawn.

Clint Eastwood - Can't go past any Dirty Harry movies but really enjoyed Gran Torino

Charles Bronson - Dirty Dozen but Death Wish was considered

John Wayne - so many great movies especially when he was in the US Cavalry but I'm picking one of my favs in The Longest Day.

Gene Hackman - French Connection!

Paul Newman - Towering Inferno but Butch Cassidy + Sundance kid runs it close.

Russell Crowe - Romper Stomper

Morgan Freeman - Glory a super movie!

Steve McQueen - Great Escape no doubt about it.

Jude Law - Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow, sorry I struggled to find any decent movie for him.

Thought Enemy at the Gates may have been on your War Film list.

Actually do have that movie on DVD but not a standout war movie for me. Looked at his bio and I guess the Talented Mr Ripley is one of his well known but I have never seen it.

Not seen it either, its was just a random selection of actors from various generations, lots more to pick from.

my favorite top 10 include some box sets or trilogy movies that are also all time classics

1. Morgan Freeman - Shawshank Redemption
2. Al Pacino - Godfather Trilogy
3. Mel Gibson - Lethal weapon series
4. Keanu Reeves - The Matrix Trilogy
5. Tom Hanks - Green Mile
6. Liam Neeson - Schindler's List
7. Anthony Hopkins - Silence of the lambs
8. Sigourney Weaver - Aliens Anthology
9. Sylvestor Stallone - Rambo Series (first movie being my favorite)
10. Arnold Schwarzenegger - Terminator Anthology

I know I went with something slightly different with the trilogy's and anthology's etc but these were a huge influence on me at the time I seen them. There were so many more i could have chosen from but these will do for now.
