One advantage of the pubs being closed is the reduction in 'drunk and disorderly' offences. Down by 0.0134% :D

This is from the governments official guidelines for pubs and bars ..
1- Must keep records of all customers and contact details for 21 days in case a coronavirus outbreak is reported.
2- No live performances .- drama , comedy , dances or music.
3- No loud music or tv sport to prevent people having to shout- spreading the virus.
4- More tables outside if possible.
5-Cap numbers allowed in.
6- Drinkers will have to book ahead to visit some pubs.
7- Provide hand sanitisers and social distance markings
8- Contactless payment
9- Table service to avoid queuing at the bar
10- Customers banned from standing at the bar.
11- Condiments in disposable sachets and not bottles.
12- Ban on going indoors if it rains and there is not enough room for social distancing.

Jesus.
Even when I was still drinking alcohol I never went to a bar/pub/club for the drinks alone, it was always for music, dancing and socialising.
That's a really sad list, but you know what's sadder ? A person who needs to go there rather than just having a drink or four round someone's house or at home.
In all my 35 years as a drinker, I can honestly say that I never, ever drank alone : I never came in from work thinking "I need a drink"; I never opened a beer in front of the football on my own; I never cracked open a beer in the sun on my own. It was always a social thing for me. That's probably why I really dislike 'spoons regardless of their odious owner.

I read the list of Pub restrictions to Mrs SW and followed up with "don't think we'll be going in Wetherspoons anytime soon"

Her reply "You don't go in there anyway"

Which is actually true, stopped going in some time ago when they introduced the app for ordering beer. Its basically a short cut to queue jumping which I hate.
Its not about convenience its about a conveyor belt of drinkers and profits.

Give me a nice cosy real ale pub with genuine comfort any day.

Wetherspoons buy all their beer that’s virtually out of date. Buy it cheap & sell it cheap. Apparently I have friends that swear by them as a B&B they reckon they’re excellent value & very modern. I won’t be staying though as we never stay above pubs.
