Best Bond

After hearing the sad news about Sean Connery I thought we might have a poll on who was the best bond.

Roger Moore for me although favourite Bond movie is a Sean Connery one "from Russia with Love".

Sean Connery was best on the screen but reading the books, the man you had in your head was Roger Moore.
I once played against Don Revie.

It IS Sean Connery for me, though being a fan of the books, Daniel Craig is the closest to Fleming's vision of a hardened, often quite cruel killer.

My favourite movie is You Only Live Twice - the setting, the music, the Asian women, that volcano - and yet he was also in many of the other standouts in the series : Goldfinger (most people's #1), Dr No, From Russia With Love (superb and underrated) and Diamonds Are Forever.

For what it's worth, I'd rank the actors like this :

1. Connery
2. Craig
3. Lazenby
4. Moore
5. Dalton
6. Brosnan

I don't count Niven in the role, and if you're going to include him you might as well stick Woody Allen in there too.

Really ?
I envisioned a rather bitter charmer, his heart wrapped in steel, who would win arguments with his fists .. like a thrice-divorced, twice-bankrupt car sales tycoon who'd jacked it all in to be a contract killer.

I'm a big fan of both Niven and especially Woody Allen but it's not part of the canon, is it? You might as well put Rowan Atkinson in there for Johnny English...
