This word ?

Post by NottinghamWhite »

Keep seeing that a certain hotel is a boutique hotel what is a boutique hotel. There seems to no definitive definition as to what a boutique hotel the only common denominator is they seem to charge more if they feel they fit into this category.

Great question. We often look at staying somewhere that’s classed as Boutique but can’t see how it labels it’s self as such. As above it seems if you class yourself as such then you can whack on another 20-30% to the cost. It’ll be interesting how others class as Boutique.

As described in the dictionary

a small stylish hotel, typically one situated in a fashionable urban location.

That of course is how the owners describe it, possibly not everyone else :D .

100% Davy.

I remember a few years ago we were staying in Dublin. City was packed because there were several huge concerts clashing the same weekend.
Hotel rooms were hard to come by, so we took a 'boutique' hotel in Temple Bar (don't go folks, tourist trap madness).

Picture on the website showed a huge, throne like chair, velvet, gold, all the glitz. The missus loved it.
When we got there, you could lift the chair with 1 hand  . The fake velvet material was probably the heaviest part of it

More expensive is pretty much always part of the definition of anything "boutique".
