The True size of countries

As a map geek I read many years ago about how the map of the world we use is way out on scale due to having th represent a 3D image on a 2D surface as shown below



In that video there's a link to this site https://www.thetruesize.com/ which shows how much the scale is out.

Gave up,as the site is full of Google adverts taking away any enjoyment that was to be had.

Long time ago but remember doing something similar during my Geography O Level course.
A Flat map really does distort, everyone should own a globe :D
