I’m sure we all love a pie whether your a carnivore, vegetarian or vegan but what’s your favourite filling. For me in no particular order I partial to the following…
Steak and Kidney
Chicken
Steak and Ale
Pies

Agree with steak & kidney but love a chicken Balti as well, preferred accompaniments are chips, mushy peas & gravy.

Re: Pies
I was really surprised during our holiday to Australia how many different pies were for sale we bought one most lunchtimes and had it in the park. Lots of their pies had a layer of peas. Mr Russell is this common in Oz ?

Steak and Kidney aaalll day long.
The others, regardless of filling/flavour, are an equal but distant 2nd.
Loved treating ourselves to fresh pies when we backpacked Oz... 21 years ago

That would depend on the occasion or accompaniment.NottinghamWhite wrote:Wigan White wrote:'Bout time someone started a thread on these delicacies.

As a snack it would be the pork or meat pie.
With chips etc it would be steak or even better, steak and kidney.
On it's own as a meal, the meat and potato reigns supreme.
Let's not forget the pie's little brother, the pastie (or for the uneducated, slice or bake)
I'm quite partial to a cheese and onion pastie, but never a cheese and onion pie.

Re: Pies
My Mrs is vegan, so we tend to have either the Pukka Chicken & Mushroom or the Mince and Onion (obviously both Vegan). I like the Chicken one, bit I’m not that bothered about the Mince one.
Occasionally, I’ll have a pie at Elland Road. They are hotter than the centre of the sun, but once cooled they are delicious. I had the Chicken Balti one last time, which was very good.
