Apparently, most people count three (three coins in the fountain). 'the fountain' is the Trevi of which the last two characters are the Roman numerals for number six.SMorientes wrote:Me too, but I don't understand 'the fountain contains the correct answer'?
I once played against Don Revie.

Ah yeah, VI, didn't spot that. On first skim reading it I only counted 3 but I was sure I must've missed some so went back over it. Shows how little attention you pay to little words like of, and how much the initial letter of a word dominates your perception of it. Those are the 3 Fs you spot immediately, because they are at the start of a group of letters.johnh wrote: Apparently, most people count three (three coins in the fountain). It's like when I'm reading something quickly, I get annoyed if 2 character's names begin with the same letter, even if they're otherwise quite different names e.g. Shirley and Samantha. When I'm reading it quickly I see the capitalised S and my mind inserts a character's name and moves on without checking the rest of the word, so if both the characters are involved in something it gets quite confused.
