Fillip means to flick something with your finger, but that term is pretty uncommon so I used the other definition; it also means a stimulating bonus and I've noticed a few football commentators have added it to their arsenal of sporting terms so I thought it was recognisable enough and a better bet...
As for Al-, it means 'the' in Arabic, hence Al-qaeda (the leaders) and Al-Jazeera (the island).
