where in the world
Re: where in the world
Vienna. Lovely city but very expensive If I remember correctly. It's been quite a few years since I've been there.

Stephansdom (St Stephen's cathedral) Pretty much the centre of the city
Heuriger (this year's wine) There are districts of the city like Grinzing with taverns that specialise in serving young wine and simple food. They are (rightly) known for their convivial and relaxing atmosphere
Prater - An amusement park famous for its Ferris wheel on the banks of the Danube
Tafelspitz (Topside of beef) My mother was an excellent cook but her efforts with boiling beef were not her finest hour. So it was with some trepidation I accepted a business colleague's invitation to try Tafelspitz, slow-boiled silverside with root vegetables served with a variety of condiments including apple mixed with horseradish. It was magnificent
Hofreitschule (Horse riding school) Full name is the Spanish riding school. They breed a special grey horse, Lippizaner, and put on public displays of horsemanship. It's a magnificent sight I'm told, just not my type of thing

I was there over twenty years ago and I loved the place, did the island hopping tours to Nysiros kalminos and pserimos too excellent adventure but i never forgot the history of the place and its relationship to Hippocrates which was the clear indicator for me.Sniffer wrote:Spot on CW.
