Dubrovnik is my guess. Went there once, a long time ago.

Dubrovnik. Me too. A long time ago.
We arrived by ship from Split, dolphins at the prow piloting us in. Dalmation babushkas rushed to the gangway as the ship docked to secure paying guests for their pensions.

That's it Janecky and Sniffer we enjoyed it there although gets a bit busy in the old town when the cruise ships are in town.
Ragusa is its old name.

Alright then.

1. Black sausage
2. Lenin museum
3. Civil war 1918
4. Industrialisation began by Scotsman James Finlayson, a cotton mill, called the Manchester of its country.
5. Home town of youngest female prime minister (current)

Something rings a bell from when I was in Austria that they claimed the youngest female prime minister so will guess Vienna.
Although probably wrong.
Civil war and Lenin museum fit Russia but can't believe they have had a female prime minister.

Austria can claim the youngest current prime minister, but Sebastian Kurz is male.

Wild guess - Chisinau, Moldova
Might have to take an interest in the Premier League now....

Just remember something about it when we were in Vienna, just thought I'd hit lucky

Now working along the lines it's one of the soviet breakaway states.
As Estonia is closest to Leningrad (St Petersburg) I'll try Tallinn.

Chisinau really was a wild guess. Tallinn is better, but not the right answer.
