Hi all, I was born in Leeds in 1957, live most of my childhood near Roundhay Park where I first started to play football with a team my dad coached. My first memory of supporting Leeds is being carried on my father's shoulders (about 4 yo) and standing in the Scratching shed with brother Steve and Dad and from memory it was a Div 1 game against Sunderland, with both teams going up that season. Other memories are from as an older child going to see Leeds v Man Utd when the fixture was changed to a midweek afternoon kick off due to a Yorkshire miner's strike so they couldn't play under lights. That was when I first saw George Best play, along with other greats of the game.
I followed Leeds throughout my teen years, playing Saturday morning and watching most home league games. The team I remember best is, Sprake; Reaney, Cooper, Hunter, Charlton, Bremner, Lorimer, Giles, Gray, Clarke, Jones. That was the best XI I remember. I was also a ball boy at Elland Road due to captaining my school team in the day the reserves played there and only one stand was opened, it was Paul Reaney's comeback from breaking his leg. I spoke to David Harvey that day as he was Leeds' No2 keeper. So many memories, so many great times, I could go on for more but I fear I would bore you all.
I emigrated to Australia in 1982 after playing semi-pro in UK for Ossett Albion to chase a girl and a semi-pro dream over here. Instead I became a coach of juniors and have been a successful coach for 17 years now. Working at grassroots, I have some very good credentialed players I watch nowadays as full time professional players.
Love Leeds, love the game, love coaching kids the world game.
