Would a marque signing unify fans
With a decent management background team, season tickets at a recent high and some of our precious youths signing pro or extension contracts are we just a marque player or 2 away from all getting on and supporting lufc together?

It would help but results speak loudest. Though keeping Cook could be just as big

I think for some whatever happens it wont make a difference until MC has departed.

It would need to be a truly momentous signing whoever it was, Jim, and 'momentous' means big money which we clearly don't seem to have available. Any signings need to be a part of a bigger plan which is why Wilkinson did so well, with the backing of the board, but at present we're not really sure who dictates the transfer targets etc.jm fleet wrote:With a decent management background team, season tickets at a recent high and some of our precious youths signing pro or extension contracts are we just a marque player or 2 away from all getting on and supporting lufc together?
Can't see it happening tbh, only someone like James Milner signing could convince the fans that LUFC was being run well and showing genuine ambition for promotion.

Persuading cook & Taylor to sign for 3 years. 2 signings of a Bridcutt standard, then a Tom nice/ Stewart Downing & Jordan Rhodes type signing. In total a £20m type outlay... Plus the wages. I honestly think we could see 30,000 plus average crowds back at Elland road

Nah, we need a couple of nasties in the side, I thinkisrodger wrote:... then a Tom nice .. type signing ..

Tim Nice But Dim hurtling down the wing might put a couple of thousand on the gate.
Re: Would a marque signing unify fans
Getting Taylor and Cook tied down on long term contracts - not one year extensions - would a big sign of intent and would energise the fans. To see we're trying to keep our best players would play into having a vision and desire for success, and not of the financial kind.
