Re: Ex-Player/Manager Watch
Let`s look at how the players who left in summer have done:
Pontus Jansson (Brentford): Played 25 games, no goals yet. 8 clean sheets for Brentford and they`re in 3rd position. Jansson also been captain of the team. Clearly a key player for what seems to be one of our toughest opponents. Could´ve been useful for us this season even if I think his replacement White is better.
Kemar Roofe (Anderlecht): 13 games, 6 goals & 2 assists. Injured in the first part of the season, then a good period. 1 goal in the last 6 games before the winter break. Anderlecht struggling mid-table. Could`ve been useful for us this season.
Caleb Ekuban (Trabzonspor): 8 games, 1 goal. Had a good start of the season (including 4 goals in 4 matches in the qualification rounds to Europe League!), then a fractured toe and he`s not been able to regain a starting position. Not a bad player but not good enough for us.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell (Burnley): 0 minutes played. On the bench only in the cups when Pope has been rested. Kiko is better.
Samu Saiz (Girona): Involved in 16 game, 0 goals and 2 assists (Spanish level 2). Seems like he have lost parts of his greatness.
Hadi Sackho (Denlizsbor): Involved in 15 games, 2 goals and 2 assists. Seems like he`s been playing more and more lately. Club is mid-table in Turkish top division, so the level is decent.
Aapo Halme (Barnsley): Played 19 games, starting most of them and scored 3 goals. Since end of December he`s been playing DM and not CB. Seems to develop nicely, but not good enough for us.
Clarke Odour (Barnsley): Involved in 7 games and have actually started the last 6 matches as left back (which Barnsley have won 3 and drew twice) so it seems he`s making a name for himself. However, he would’ve been behind Douglas, Alioski, Dallas and Davis so no problem that he left.
Malik Wilks (Barnsley): Involved in 15 games (820 minutes) and scored 1 goal. Not been playing since mid-november and is probably leaving already this window. Not good enough for the Championship yet?
Tyler Denton (Stevenage): Involved in 13 games and playing regulary lately. Still far from being Championship level.
Paudie O`Connor (Bradford): 13 games and 2 goals. Seems to play pretty regulary, but not good enough for Leeds.
Tom Pearce (Wigan): No idea what`s been going on. He`s only been on the bench 1 time in the league this season. Only game he`s played is the FA Cup 3rd round against Leicester. Not good enough.
Pawel Cibicki: Got 3 games in the autumn in Eresdivise for Den Haag. Now in some Polish team. Unfortunately, he was never good enough.
Oriol Rey (Valladolid): Played 19 games for their B-team (Spanish level 3). Scored 1 goal. Not surprisingly a bit away from playing at their first team (mid-table La Liga). Probably one of the better of the younger ones who left, but far away from our team.
Oliver Sarkic (Burton): Involved in 20 games (1250 minutes) in League One. Scored 2 goals, 1 assist. Far from being top Championship level.
Alejandro Machuca (Ibiza): Played 15 minutes in Segunda B (Spanish level 3). Not good enough.
Adrian Balboa (Lorca FC): Can`t find much info about him. His team is mid-table (Spanish level 4). Not good enough.
Hugo Diaz (Getafe): Played 19 games (1700 minutes) and scored 2 goals for Getafe B (Spanish level 3). Seems to play both CB and DM. Decent player, could’ve been a useful backup but nothing more at the moment.
Pontus Jansson (Brentford): Played 25 games, no goals yet. 8 clean sheets for Brentford and they`re in 3rd position. Jansson also been captain of the team. Regarding Pontus and Roofe can't help but think we'd all be more relaxed about this transfer window - and therefore chances of promotion - if they were still at Leeds.
Bielsa is, I think, on record saying that Pontus didn't have a good relationship with his teamates; I'd speculate that Roofe was something of an outsider as well.
So the question is: what's more important team harmony or winning stuff?
Might have to take an interest in the Premier League now....

Re: Ex-Player/Manager Watch
I believe both Jansson & Roofe we’re both popular, Bielsa just wanted Jansson out (not the case with roofe). Was speaking with Barnsley supporters- they think Halme has really come on, and will really develop, Wilks is just a big time Charlie. Their view Mowett is absolute class, I suspect he’s a bit like Neil Redfearn, a big fish in a small pond, thrives on being the main man, but but not quite good enough to make the step up.mapperleywhite wrote:Thanks for putting together this interesting summary and analysis.Polkadot wrote:Let`s look at how the players who left in summer have done:

Harmony to an extent, however there are always clicks & those disliked. I believe emlyn Hughes was disliked at Liverpool but captained the side, whilst Reaney was the odd one out at Leeds.Polkadot wrote:'mapperleywhite wrote:So the question is: what's more important team harmony or winning stuff?

I remember Hughes falling out with Tommy Smith but always thought it was down to Smith getting replaced as captain. Never heard any other players disliked him.isrodger wrote:Harmony to an extent, however there are always clicks & those disliked. As for Reaney that's also a new one, always thought one of the clubs strengths under the Don was team spirit.

That doesn't mean you can't win things with a odd player that doesn't fit but it's less likely.
