There is a certain European stamp on our squad now.

It looks as if Phillips, Ayling, Viera, Roofe and Borthwick-Jackson are going to be our five English players to play regularly this season. Viera (Portugal and Guinea Bissau) and Roofe (Jamaica) could be swayed to commit elsewhere should the opportunity arise, so we could even be down to three!

No, they'll still count as homegrown mate, no matter who they choose to play for internationally.

Indeed, homegrown status is determined by a player playing for three years in England under the age of 21, regardless of nationality - for instance, Cesc Fabregas counts as homegrown, because of the young age he joined Arsenal at.

Will Vieira count as home grown yet? I thought he joined us from the continent in 2016

Well he's lived in England since 2011, hence qualifying for England U20s - so yes I imagine that he does. He's U21 currently anyway, so he doesn't need to be registered.

Cooper, Gomes, Lonergan and Shaughnessy are all home grown as well.
