For anyone interested, there is a 90 minute documentary about Jimmy Armfield's career on Radio 5 live at 9pm on Tuesday. Will probably be on the I-player for a while afterwards as well
There's light at the end of the tunnel and the future's looking very bright indeed.

Can't help like Jimmy was a good manager and nice person. Took over us at a difficult time but would have him in my top 5 managers with only The Don and Wilko definately above him.

Thoroughly nice bloke and very knowledgeable.

Should have been the first English manager to win the European Cup, biggest injustice in our history that and he took it well.

I will be listening to this in some format.

ARMFIELD OUT was painted as graffiti to the left of the main gates of the stadium. It was quite shocking then and I think in principle it would still be. I don't ever remember any shouts against Jimmy Armfield, his problem was he was too 'nice', or as Duncan McKenzie famously said, 'The manager's indecision is final'.
