England are in line to play a World Cup warm-up game at Leeds United’s Elland Road as Gareth Southgate looks to rouse countrywide support before they travel to Russia in the summer.
Negotiations are continuing, but Elland Road is emerging as the preferred venue of the FA for the second of two friendly matches in the build-up to Russia 2018.
England have played there twice before — a 2-1 defeat by Italy in 2002 and a 3-3 draw with Sweden in 1995 — and are committed to going on the road, as they did before the European Championship last year, in an attempt to gain backing for Southgate’s squad.

Thanks Sam, much appreciated. For the record, I was invited to contribute to the Indian web journo's article, I wasn't paid or anything. The mistakes in it are his, BTW
'Francis' Beckenbauer??
I know loads of us like to 'blog' or even vlog about our club but I generally don't bother. This Indian-based website was a chance I thought to help spread the 'new word' about Leeds United, however. I think Debjit was hoping for more exposure from that website so please, Talkers, help by retweeting or reposting the article as much as you can, it genuinely could help the club's reputation a tiny little bit. Well that's why I did it, that's the truth, though of course I won't deny that it's a buzz to receive personal praise as well
