I can understand this, despite his lack of form of late.

He’s a very valuable asset to the club, and any potential suitors have to factor in his length of contract to any bid that they may make.

Great news. Means the likes of Burnley won't be able to get him on the cheap and shows he wants to be here, as well as our ambition.

Wonder if he can call up his buddy Helander and tell him we made a terrible mistake relying on a kid and an average Championship defender.

Thought he did well when coming on last night, back to the Pontus

Agreed, there was one point when he went steaming in for a challenge, and won the ball fairly, all that was missing was him turning round and screaming to the crowd.

Hope it’s the start of things to come.

He actually smiled on the touchline before he came on. The second coming of Pontus Jansson is just around the corner.

I Think Pontus is actually affected by the people in the defense with him when he gets a game, Cooper is okay but is limited in his game play. Pennington and Shaughnessy are players for the future and are good players who are not limited but a little bit wet behind the ears. We do certainly need one hell of a tough CB who will bring out the Pontus we all loved from last year. He misses Bartley and so do we IMO a reliable partnership that brought goals as well.

If you have a solid back four the rest of the team don't have to run back and forth as much as we are which then generates the game play in a more forward style. This saps the energy of any midfield player having to cover all bases. A player has to be fit to do this for a whole ninety minutes.

We are a pretty decent team overall and i know some on here will just do the argument for arguments sake. We are genuinely 2-3 solid players away from the Premiership. Attacking play is good but we have no one capable of holding the defense together with Pontis at the moment consistently. We also need some one who can really give the midfielders some bite, a general who will also give our players a smack if needed. The forwards will take care of the rest, Lassoga is a decent forward with very little supply coming to him that he can use efficiently. He needs a partner who can open up the space and feed off lassoga, although from what i have seen of Lassoga he is a bit of a selfish player and doesn't bring others into the game when he has the ball, he tends to shoot more often than do link up play. Maybe he needs a leader on the pitch to rattle his cage into submission for the team to work as a unit more.

Pontus is a good defender unfortunately we are missing Bartley big time, and without him Pontus is looking average. We need a quality CB as bar Pontus we've nothing.
