Leeds United and other clubs' vinyl recordings
Hello, I am confident I'll get the answer here
I'm writing an article about our club and some of the unique aspects. I know we were one of the first to actually get a hit in the record charts (1972) but we released a single in 1964 too to commemorate getting promotion.
Does anyone know if we were the first football club to release a single though? Thanks for any help.

Re: Leeds United and other clubs' vinyl recordings
I'd google a few music sites mate, as this seems a bit specific to me.
There must be a music and football blogger out there somewhere - probably more than one.
If not, go to The Guardian's The Knowledge section and ask - it's always amazing what their worldwide readership comes up with :

For what it's worth, I've got the 7" of Eric Cantona's "I Don't Know Why I Love You" and the 12" version of MOT with the dance remix as well as the original

Your a brave man to admit that Rigger.
I once played against Don Revie.

ANS, if you Google 'Leeds United Discography' it lists all the records made by Leeds United.

However, I did Google Man United discography and it appears Scum beat us to it with a single in 1963. Funny thing is, the LU single of 1964 doesn't appear in many if any search results. Even if it didn't chart, that seems odd to me. I bet it sold pretty well, I still have my copy somewhere

After consulting my "bible" Seddon's 1999 Football Compendium
http://www.lufctalk.com/resources/leeds ... l-320.html
He says the "Manchester United Calypso" (1957) was "the first commercially available football pop song".
