Famous Leeds United quotes/commentary

Post by Another Northern Soul »

Is there a dedicated website with stuff like this on?

I'm looking for famous quotations of any era, positive/inspirational/motivational ones :P , about our team, anyone help please? In case you're interested, it's for mural ideas, I have the bug now :D

Obvious ones are 'Clarke, one-nil!' plus Barry Davies' commentary from the 1972 7-0 drubbing of Southampton but I know there are lots more, some from much more recent times too.

There's Don Revie's 'You get nowt for being second' and I also love Christiansen's one when Wood was leaving... 'These are my players and for them I die.'

Thanking you 8-)

Sean Derry: "You don't choose to play for Leeds United, Leeds United choose you."

Don Revie: "When Eddie Gray plays on snow he doesn’t leave any footprints."

Les Cocker when told that Norman Hunter had broken a leg: "Whose is it?"

Strachan's winner v Leicester in the promotion season, John Helm " Have you ever seen a better goal? "
I've got hundreds of games and highlights and there's bound to be loads more, will have a think.

Raich Carter giving his pre-match talk to us Juniors. 'I don't want to see any sliding tackles, you play football on your feet not on your arse'. (circa 1953/54)
I once played against Don Revie.

i have mentioned this one many times but Terry Cooper's "i had a dream" after dreaming for 3 nights that he would score the winner in the 1968 League Cup Final against Arsenal, he did of course get the winner in a 1-0 win.
Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans - keep Marching on Together.
