Happy birthday to Eddie Gray who turns 70 today.

My favourite player when I was a lad and the most skilful player I've seen live. Met him briefly a few times when I used to stay behind after a match to get the player's autographs and always he had time to sign. Can still remember the anger from the kop when he got sacked as manager and his name being sang constantly at the next match. A true legend in every sense who by his own admission saw off a few players brought in to replace him.

Yeah, he's a nice guy. Said hello to him last year at the Ipswich away game and every time I see him anywhere he's always got a smile on his face

I used to think he was so dour when I used to listen to his radio commentary. Then when I finally come to terms that he was just reflecting our football for most of the last 15 years. I started to understand him, indeed I started to empathise with him. Happy Birthday my long suffering brother.
