Yep, agree with all of that, John.

The fans play a big part.
I think if we could see some signs of hope, improvement or even the idea that the man in place was working to, we'd all be a lot calmer, less reactionary and more supportive.

I'm still hoping Heck might get that if we make the right moves in the summer and get off to a good start, but he feels hamstrung to me already because of the poor half of the season we all just endured ..

I feel a little sorry for Heck and he hasn't had any chance to sign his own players, however, I think we need to start again with a clean sweep. I want to give a manager time to build, but for some reason, maybe like you say Rigger, Heckingbottom looks a bit beaten already to me. Personally I think the board need to invest a much bigger name as manager i.e Ranieri

Since the Hockaday fiasco, we have only had one 'proper' manager (Neil Warnock) and that didn't work out, though it did at Cardiff. This says more about the owners of the club than Warnock. All the other managers have been, in the main, cheap options and/or unknowns. If we are to get promotion, we need to get a quality manager and give him time to get a team together capable of promotion. Oh, and we will never do it by spending 3 or 4 million on players.
Can see your argument but for me Warnock boobed here and learn't so didn't make the same mistake Cardiff. He stayed too loyal to his mates and players that had served him well previously (Brown, Tonge, Kenny, etc). Sadly it was 5 or so years past their best and we suffered for it.

McCarthy, Moyes, Allardyce, Bilić or Flores. Take your pick of the front three for me...

10/12 games in, he’ll get the cut and we will miss out and end up with someone second fiddle. MOT!

I am confused by your time warp.

I put it down to the space-time-continuum. They can't touch you for it.
I once played against Don Revie.

I didn't think Heckingbottom was the right appointment at the time and what I have seen from him since then has only strengthened that view. There is no way this guy is going to suddenly turn things around after presiding over one of the worst runs of form in the football league since the turn of the year. He will never have a chance to sign his own players anyway as Victor Orta is in charge of that. This insistence that managers have to work with the rubbish Orta trails up from minor leagues around Europe is why any decent manager wouldn't consider coming to Leeds. Its looking like we will persist with Heckingbottom but he will be sacked before Halloween as we write off another season.
In Heck's defence he will never have a squad with sufficient quality to compete with the big boys in this league no matter how good or bad a coach he is, but he certainly has not improved the group we have, infact they have become worse. Until we get a manager in with a proven record of success, give him full control of the first team squad and back him properly in the transfer market we will continue to tread water and battle it out in lower mid table.
