Leeds United 1 Arsenal 0

Post by NottinghamWhite »

It's the 50th anniversary this year of us picking up our first piece of silverware, the league cup. In 1967 the final was moved to Wemberly having previously been a 2 legged affair. As a teenager I used all my savings to attend the game, I was helped out by my 3 older brother who all chipped in ten bob apiece to help the cause. I still remember Eddie taking a corner & the ball falling to Terry Cooper who fired it into the net. The game was a fiesty affair, as were most of the clashes we had back then with The Gunners back in the day. I can see Billy holding the cup up high in front of us fans, a memory along with a few others I shall take to the grave, " his eyes they shone like diamonds " :D

Sorry just thinking out loud. I was too young to go to the 65 Cup Final but remember myself & a couple of mates watching the game at one of their houses. I remember us going ballistic when Billy scored then devastated as St John grabbed the winner.

Ouch! You just reminded me NW, you were too young to go and I was 29.
I once played against Don Revie.

Learn something every day I didn't know we were only the 2nd final to be played at Wembley.
Just too young to go at 8 years old but think my Dad was there.
Got my first season ticket the year after.

Don’t worry about it pal, I wasn’t even born until 4 years afterwards.

Three months before my 3rd birthday.
