When you retire, you switch bosses - from the one that hired you, to the one that married you.

Happy to admit same here pal, question will he last the season this year? Let’s hope so.Davycc wrote:And I was thinking "oh I hope I'm wrong about him" and I was ....so wrong.NottinghamWhite wrote:One year ago today Marcelo signed as our manager. Happy anniversary El Loco.

Only reason he won't stay is if the club renege on any agreements, which I dont think they will do willingly. They may have an amicable parting of ways if not enough cash available, but on the whole I'd be very confident MB will still be in place come May 2020.isrodger wrote:Happy to admit same here pal, question will he last the season this year? I think he did brilliantly well for someone who, by your comment, suggests he doesn’t know about the league and how it works. He obviously did an enormous amount of research on the teams in the league and how they play but I agree, he couldn’t have learned much about the ‘physical presence’ (atmosphere, personalities and rivalries etc.) (the how it works) of the league but he’s no fool and he will have learned a hell of a lot over the last season, especially from the Villa and Derby incidents.NottinghamWhite wrote:That's exactly how I feel. The EFL is such a competitive league that I feel we need someone who knows about it & how it works. The guy is highly acclaimed by top managers but at 61 is he going to be up for the challenge ?Sniffer wrote:Hopefully he's the new Messiah, but ...
Personally I am really looking forward to next season to see how he goes now he has that years experience and ‘hopefully’ at least a couple of the additional players he wants.

He's from Argentina the rivalries and atmosphere is every much as big as in England. Boca v River Plate is possibly one of the biggest rivalries in world football.Grumpy wrote:

If you look at the managers we've had over the last several years, the question answers itself. If we didn't have Bielsa who would be better? Allardyce, Pulis, and the rest who feature in the manager merry go round. I agree with ilkley62 though, we need to allocate some funds this summer. I think we punched above our weight last season and that was due to the Bielsa effect. Next season, the opposition know what to expect. We need to strengthen in the obvious areas and ensure we have adequate cover for injuries and suspensions.
I once played against Don Revie.
