Re: Sam Byram
I think I might know what you mean dlw, tricky wingers often look on the verge of falling over, they're forever leaning this way and that, but Byram's posture is very upright even when running with the ball and stuff. I'd always prefer to keep him at RB to be honest and I agree with what you say about his strength in overlapping

Re: Sam Byram
That is exactly what I mean! All wingers seem to be able to twist and turn and usually have that crouched style of running - Eddie Gray was one of the most exaggerated. Thank's for helping me out there!
Re: Sam Byram
Your right he is a full back and not a winger, but he could do a job on the right of midfield in a Steve stone, gary speed, ray parlour, Freddie lynburg style ... Not a winger, but as a player who instinctively stays wide. A bit like bowyer ended up doing. If we found an out & out flanker on the left, we might actually have a perfect balence for 442.dlw10 wrote:I don't actually think he will make a midfielder, or a winger. His strength is his stamina and his ability to overlap. He somehow gives me the impression that he is a very "upright" player and (I know it sounds daft) for that reason I don't see him in a role other than full back. Don't know why I've posted that now because I can't quite explain what I mean!!!!!

A little clip of Sam showing his ability down the right from the U21 game. Looks fit enough to me:
