All in fun of course to pass away the summer months.

Re: Poetry
Here is my first effort (never said I was any good at it)
Its called - 1972
It was back in the year of 72
In that famous month of May
A young lad arriving in London
To walk down the Wembley Way
Walking to the great stadium
A crowd one hundred thousand strong
All with faces that were Smiling
And singing many a great song.
Gooners mentioned Prince Charlie
And the teams he made look silly
But we could trump that
Our captain was a King called Billy
One Hundred Years of history
What this match was all about
Even the Queen came along
And for us I believe she did shout
When the official singing started
We knew this was to be our night
When It was led by Tommy Steele
A man that was dressed in white
The first half was cagey
With no goals by the break
We stood behind the Tunnel
Our nerves making us shake
Early in the second half
On the attack looking for the Kill
A great cross from the right
Those immortal words “Clarke One Nil”
The Arsenal tried in vain
To pull that great goal back
That event will not happen
Said a giant known as Big Jack
We certainly celebrated loudly
And Lizzie smiled a lot
While handing over the Cup
To our Brave Red headed Scot

Evokes memories that does
ok a quick one.
I remember a season with fondness
when a player scored goals of such class
His eye for a goal just seamed endless
but one never did just bounce of his ass.
For his were goals of just wonder
each one of them score with aplomb
He came from a country far yonder
but he could hit a ball just like a bomb.
James is still having bad nightmares
of a rocket that flew past his head
he sits on his knees and just stares
or tosses and turns in his bed.
Dorigo just sent the ball over
Rod Wallace heads it again
and for every Leeds lover
the result is etched in their brain.
The ball then drops to Yeboah
but it never gets to the ground
For this is a strike that you know ahhhh
Was to amaze the world all around.
I still see that goal in my day dreams
and the others he buried as well
He scared the best of Premiership teams
But alas the twat Graham he did sell.
Thank you Mr Yeaboah
for memories and goals that you scored
you always were a bit of a goer
and while watching you I never was bored.

Re: Poetry - Leeds Utd style
My 2nd offering -
This one I've called -
Heroes
They travelled over the border an Army nine thousand strong
With smiling faces and singing many a great song
Old Trafford was a place with bad memories of pain
But they all travelled in hope by Car, Bike and Train
As the teams emerged from the tunnel Larry looked so cool
This was going to be the day he made Fergie look like a fool
The enemy wouldn’t score they would only try in vain
Because between the sticks to stop them we had a Great Dane
Rooney was their star man cumbersome and slow
Not a cat in hells chance he could ever beat Kisnorbo
We had our fullbacks Jason Crowe and Andy Hughes
They would be the ones to give Manchester the Blues
Then our captain Naylor at the back to keep it tight
With fire in his belly and blood that would flow pure white
We had Micky Doyle who was as solid as a Rock
Kilkenny and Johnson the Scum they did Mock
Then Luciano Becchio who would work his socks off
He would Make defenders splutter and cough
It was Home grown Johnny that played the key pass
And Beckford of course with a finish of such class
The subs were used to help close the game out
With the help of the Leeds fans who would sing and shout
Snoddy was first on to help out with our attack
With a superb freekick the crossbar he did crack
Then it was Lubo a Slovak giant to give them a fright
Then of course our young speedster that was Ady White
Marching on together many voices loudly did sing
It was our day and the rafters certainly did ring
It’s a funny old game but that was our fate
So January the third remember the date.

And hot off the Press :-
Don’t Go Jack
Think about it Jack
Here you are part of our Team
If you listen to us fans
This is what we will scream
Don’t Go jack
This is your Home please be told
It is just one big lie
That London is paved with gold
Spurs is a place
That will never fill your needs
To describe it properly
We would say a Poor Mans Leeds
Many have gone before
Here at Leeds they looked very Good
But most just end up
Looking like a Yorkshire Pud
Next season is big
Here you will fight in the Trench
Down in the Smoke
You will just be warming the bench
Our fans are the best
You have a future that looks bright
Forget the Cockerel
And stay in the purest form of White
Don’t Go Jack
Think about it Jack
Here you are part of our Team
If you listen to us fans

A Leeds United haiku :
Watching the final
I was sat on my dad's knee
Clarke, one nil, I'm hooked.

Re: Poetry - Leeds Utd style
Okay, since 1972 is a running theme….
My dad turned fifty as Leeds won
The centenary cup
And so we had a double cheer
As Bremner raised it up
Dad’s now gone and I live on
Remembering him still
Each May the sixth along with
The joy of ‘Clarke… one nil!’

Here We Go Again
The break has been long
But none of us can Wait
For kick off on Sunday
Down at Ashton Gate
With El Loco as leader
We will never be beat
He instructs from the side
On a bucket for a seat
Return to the promised Land
Is clearly our seasons Aim
And it will certainly help
If we can win this game
Predictions we all enjoy
But the future I can see
A very good victory
Bristol nil and Leeds get three
Lets hope that is correct
And not a season in vain
We are Leeds United
Here we go again.
