Ross McCormack named captain
Just heard Austin's been officially stripped of the captaincy. Perhaps so that he can be dropped? No point having a captain who doesn't play. Certainly seems summat's going on behind the scenes - and can't see this helping Austin's performances in any way.
Given to Ross McCormack instead. Was much discussed as a candidate pre-season; could see it going either way really. Though we do have a good record with Scottish skippers.

Oi, I got there first! You can't just usurp my post by making it into a new thread!

Hopefully it's a sign that Austin is going to be rested.
We are Leeds, we have to believe our new players are good enough, encourage and support them and help them grow in to a team to be reckoned with. MoT

'Stripped'? Sounds a wee bit melodramatic, like he's done something seriously wrong? No I don't mean regarding how badly he has played.

It's a strange one this taking the captaincy off someone half way through the season.
Winner of the Europa League
Re: Ross McCormack named captain
Wasn't a fan of him for the role through the summer, but he has come to the fore through his work ethic, but mostly through the conspicuous absence of any other alternatives in the squad. Zaliukas would have been my favourite for this after his first few games, but he is clearly just as vulnerable to inconsistency as anyone else.
Good to see McDermott willing to make the decision, it's an admission of guilt in itself.

2013/14 - Transfer rumours and squad discussions
It's a strange thing to do all in all and does make me wonder if he's done owt other than just warrant being dropped. Maybe a disagreement backstage. Either way, as bogdan says, at least it's a decision BMc is prepared to step up and make rather than to continue to shy away from.
