Received this earlier via email. interesting ?

"Hi there,

I'm emailing in case you find it interesting to know...

Every year, the University of Leeds asks staff (I'm one of them) to nominate people for honorary degrees. I've just nominated somebody I think will be a shoo-in: Marcelo Bielsa. Please find a copy of the nominating form attached. Maybe the campaign could go public? I don't think the University has given an honorary degree to anybody as clearly deserving in many years...

Cheers,
Marcelo (a Brazilian one) "

Very interesting. Let's wait til we've won something with him?

Also, playing devil's advocate, MB is possibly remembered in this country more for 'spygate' than he is for his wisdom, honesty, diplomacy and god-like aura which we all see in him.

TBH I'm probably not a good one to give opinion as I don't see much benefit in honorary doctorates and OBE's, etc etc etc.

I've got a GSM. (General Service Medal - with clasp MALAYA.) Didn't get 'presented' though. Turned up in the post about three years after my demob.

Same John, but no clasp. Still waiting for the dinner.

Slightly different. green inside bordered by purple each side, all equal length.

PS This must be the most meaningless and useless post on this site to anyone but you and me Davy.

I got my GSM (NI) in a Jiffy bag in the internal mail after I was posted to my next unit. The rest of my squadron had a proper parade and presentation ceremony.
