Re: Kiko Casilla
Leeds United have confirmed that they will be working the FA in their investigation into an allegation of discrimination during Saturday's Championship match at Charlton Athletic.
The club have issued a short statement acknowledging the allegation which was included in referee John Brooks' report following Leeds' 1-0 loss at The Valley.
"Leeds United are aware of an allegation made following our Sky Bet Championship game with Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Saturday," the statement reads.
"The club will be working with the FA during their investigation.
"We will be making no further comment at this stage."
This comes after the FA confirmed that an incident had been included in Brooks' report and that they would be investigating the matter further.
"An allegation of discrimination was included in the match official’s report following the Charlton v Leeds fixture on Saturday, 28 September and the FA is now investigating the matter,” said an FA spokesperson.
Charlton Athletic has also issued a statement on the matter, adding that an allegation of racial abuse was directed at Jonathan Leko.
That statement reads: "Charlton Athletic can confirm that an allegation of racial abuse directed at Jonathan Leko by an opposing player during Saturday’s game against Leeds United was reported to referee John Brooks.
"The Football Association are carrying out an investigation following the report.
"The club will support Leko throughout the process and will not be making any further comment until the investigation is concluded."
Following Saturday's match Charlton forward Macauley Bonne said:“There was one thing that happened today that I won’t mention until it comes out later.”
The defeat saw Leeds drop to fourth in the table ahead of tonight's match against West Brom at Elland Road.

Re: Kiko Casilla
If Kiko is guilty then they will throw the book at him, and rightly so. It seems to have been flagged immediately by the Charlton player so it doesn’t look good.
I hope that new French lad is on form and can keep his mouth shut. He could have an decent extended run if both apply.

Re: Kiko Casilla
If he is guilty, we should sack him.
It would be breach of contract - code of conduct expected - and we wouldn't owe him a penny.
I don't want racists playing, working or supporting my club.

But we should remember that is it possible to lose it in the heat of a moment and say something a bit racist without that meaning you’re a racist.

.. er .. no, that's not acceptable at all.
"A bit racist" ??
Why would you ?
You either hate racism and can't understand it or ... you're a racist.
There's no gray area with this subject, aptly enough.

Does the same go about being an idiot? Either you say stuff that are idiotic and you are an idiot or you don’t?
By your logic, how have Kiko been able to play together with colored men over a long career?

My wife, as a Spanish speaker, uses the word 'negrita' to refer to, say, Jamaican female colleagues. It carries no weight of offence, in fact more a note of affection/admiration.
Maybe Kiko said 'negrito' and it was mis-heard?
Wasn't there a similar case with that Italian CB Bellusci?

Might have to take an interest in the Premier League now....
Re: Kiko Casilla
Two things : "colored" is outdated. You can say "of colour" when referring to a person or you can say black, mixed-race, African-American, West Indian, etc depending on where they're from.Polkadot wrote:Does the same go about being an idiot? Secondly, they're not the same thing at all.
You're not going to end up in court because you said something idiotic, are you ?
It's like killing someone a bit - you either kill them or you don't.
Re: Kiko Casilla
Yeah, I'll grant you it could be that - it's something that's happened before and just to clarify that means it's a "lost in translation" situation.mapperleywhite wrote:My wife, as a Spanish speaker, uses the word 'negrita' to refer to, say, Jamaican female colleagues. Having said that, I think in this day and age clubs should warn foreign players about these kind of things as part of their induction training.
