Confirmed in Brian McD's post match. Said he didn't want to get injured. Shame coz he could have walked out of ER with his head held high and the best wishes of the fans behind him - far from a legend but a truer nonetheless.

Shame if he did as he would have been more mobile than diouf and based on his performance v leicestarrrn would have offered a strike partner to Ross, which against a limited Ipswich side would have been enough to earn 3 points and build some momentum.

Disappointing to hear, he was our best player last week and he would have played more of a role tonight than Diouf.

Must mean he has a move lined up? I know it's the wrong attitude but still, can see where he's coming from after not really being involved in his time here.
Re: Varney refused to play?
To be fair, many fans have wanted to move him on. Had he gotten injured tonight and ended up staying, we would have moaned about that.

I can't blame him. He gets nothing but stick from the fans, even when he plays well he is the scapegoat. He is obviously leaving and good luck to him, I wish he had done better here but I don't blame him at all for doing this.

Seems strange the boss wanted to play him when he almost out the door. Doesn't make any sense to me at all. Good luck to the guy I hope he gets more game time at his new club.
Good to see we are willing to sell players who have no future at the club and save on the wage bill a little.

My MOM, and the official MOM, against Leicester. Had he wanted to, he would have got a starting spot without question tonight but if he has the move beckoning that he wants I don't really blame him for wanting to avoid the risk of injury.
