Hi everyone!
I've read some comments on youtube that complain about Bielsa not speaking English, and even one saying that there is some kind of rule that requires managers to do so, apparently after a certain amount of time managing in England.
Does it bother you that Bielsa doesn't speak English yet in his conferences?

No not at all
He speaks good English and as I understand its to do with the press once misquoting him in the past.
Perfectly valid reason in my view.

What Selby White said is correct.
He doesn't trust journo's enough to do interviews individually and prefers an interpreter for group press conferences as a safety net or second opinion on what he's saying.
I know I personally really enjoy the intensity of his post-match speeches because it's quite comical to see him correct the poor fella stood next to him.
If anyone comments otherwise - like you said on the YouTube videos - then they either don't know enough about the man and his methods or they're just out-and-out xenophobes.
... probably both, now I come to think about it.

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. He clearly understands a lot more English than he lets on as he often corrects his translator. Personally I’m just happy to have him at my club.

Don’t be daft it doesn’t bother me one iota.

Well, he does speak English so...
But it doesn't bother me that he doesn't speak it in press conferences. With the detailed answers he gives, I imagine that it would be difficult for anyone to try and say all of that in a second language that you haven't been fluent in for some time. And, of course, I understand his distrust of the media too. It's not as though the alleged language barrier has ever proved a problem to us, so I don't really see a reason to be bothered by it.

I could not care less if he can speak English or not although the reality is that he speaks and understands the language perfectly well.
It is always a tad amusing when the interpreter does not translate what he said exactly and you can see MB give a quick glance at him or elaborates some more. The players understand him perfectly well and that is all that matters (and so does The Management & Owner)
