In 2010-11 Blackpool were in 10th on 22 points after 16 games - ended up in 19th.

Just thought I'd add that to counter all the positives

23 points from the first 17 games is a good return for a newly promoted team, and its encouraging that when we have played any of the teams in the bottom 6, we have beaten them. It is difficult to see either Sheffield Utd or WBA getting to 23 points so I think we need only worry (and not worry too much) about whoever is going to finish 18th. Win our forthcoming home games against Brighton, Sheffield Utd and West Brom, pick up the odd away win and a couple of draws and we'll be fine.

I hope our current position is strong enough for us not to think we need to 'concentrate on the league' and have a good go at an FA Cup run. Would obviously be fantastic if the vaccination programme works well enough for fans to back at the FA Cup final, and Leeds were in it.

February is looking tough, how many points ?

Some tough games coming up over the next few weeks. How many points do you think we will come away with?

Leicester City (A)
Everton (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)
Wolves (A)
Aston Villa (H)

7 or 8 would my guess and I’d be happy with that if I’m honest.

8 points please.

For me there’s 6 teams looking at relegation

Sheffield United - Really feel barring a miracle they’re already down.
West Brom - Feel they could join The Blunts

That leaves one more place to fill the slots.

Fulham - They find themselves 5 points below Brighton, who they play tonight. Fulham do have 2 games in hand though.
Brighton - A win tonight would see them go 8 points above 18th
Newcastle - Thought they showed a lot of fight in the 2nd half last night & in Saint-Maximin they have a real talent & match winner.
Burnley - Winning at Anfield showed what they are capable of.

So I’m going to Fulham to join West Brom & The Blunts.

Looking at those 6 games following todays victory in the first of them we should maybe see them as a great opportunity to climb into the top half.

Thing to remember is Everton lost to Newcastle who were playing a high press similar to ourselves. So I think we could win by similarly being given the space like Newcastle were.

Wolves are winless in the last 8, managing just 3 draws in that time, so a good time to play them and should be a win.
In fact Wolves could stumble into relegation, much like Bournemouth did if it wasn't the fact that the bottom teams are so poor their current points over relegation may be enough to keep them up.

A rather unexpected 3 points if I’m honest. Next up an unpredictable Everton side on the lush new playing surface at Elland Road. Not sure how bad the injuries are to Rodrigo and Raphinha but they both become integral players for us but we do have Pablo who can step in. Thought Paddy looked knackered after yesterday’s game. I’ll still be happy with 7 or 8 points anymore will be a real bonus.
