Was 100% thinking the same about Corberan, who is just down the road at dog botherers. He knows the U-23's inside out, players who will hopefully form the nucleus of our team going forward.

As an aside on this subject, with more feelings than facts to support my ideas, but does the current drop off in performances perhaps signal that a decision has already been taken about Bielsa no longer being at LUFC? For example I expected us to come out and play Bielsa-ball against Crawley - all the players are versed in it, regulars or reserves - much like how we destroyed West Brom. Yet nothing of the sort happened, added to the frankly bizarre substitutions. OK my stream was rubbish v Brighton but I didn't see MB getting up and prowling angrily, shouting instructions like before.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

I don't think so. I don't think MB will have made a decision and told the players this early in the season. Even had he decided to leave, I do not think MB is able to give less than 100%

I read every post here and it seems like most of us think more or less the same about the situation. I was thinking the same thing for a while now, and came to a conclusion that it's up to the top ranks in the club and how good they are at what they do.

The first 3 years since promotion are crucial. A club is being promoted with a set of players that arer often one level below the league they are playing at. The people in charge should set a reasonable long term goal and run with it. The goal for a newly promoted team should be staying up, while improving infrastructure and squad members for the firsrt 3 years. That's actually the official goal (declared by radz, i think i read it on leeds united official).

At the moment we are not in a position to let MB go. If he leaves and a manager like Sam Allardyce, Roy Hodgeson, David Moyes, etc. is taking charge we will always struggle. The establishment is a proccess that takes a few years with calculated step.

So far we've done everything right (again, imo) - we improve the squad gradually rather than gamble. It is impossibe (and proved wrong on various occassions in the past) to splash tons of money replacing the whole squad, so we went for (mostly) young promising footballers that cost fraction and are still better than what we have. MB gave most of the squad from previous season a credit and they prove him right - no one here fear relegation battle. We play exciting football, though most of our players are not the level of established PL clubs. That makes sense. Besides, we've already improved our squad this season:
1 & 2) Messlier for casilla and Raphinia for Costa which are both better than what we had.
3) Koch may be more debatable, but i think with time (given he will not lose confidence in himself and the staff wont lose confidence) he will prove as a solid CB. He moved to a tougher league, different country, language, culture, distance from family and friend, all that in a middle of a crisis that probably emphesise the bad aspects of moving.
4) Llorente, on the 1.5 times i've seen him, seemed like a fine player, but that is to be determined in the future.
5) Rodrigo, although not as good as i thought he will be, he played most games in the squad we all proud of this season, and is doing a job.
On top of that we signed some exciting youngsters in Sam Greenwood, Joe Galaherdt & Cody Drameh that are busting the U23 league at the age of 18-19. It also seems like poveda, struijk, robberts & shackelton slide in first team (personally i think loans are great in the right time and to the right club).

So what should happen in the next 2.5 years? we have to be active on the market (mainly in the summer) and change the squad little by little where a change is needed. With each season we'd play exciting football like we do, and with the great facilities & coaching staff we will eventually become an attractive destination for very good players. If the funds allow it i'd spend big money on 1 additional player once every summer to show intention going to the top (say 35 mil for RDP is considered by me as a high profile signing. dont know if he worth it, just shows intention). In 3 years from now we will stay with a very strong team with Messlier, KP, Raphinia, Jack Harrison, Koch, LLorente, Ayling and some more.

I believe MB will stay for a while 2-3 years because he is driven by challanges, and as long as the staff (including owner) are giving him the tools to act as he sees (within reasonable) he will stay (he might still leave early if people start giving him too hard time, meaning not some stupid pundits, but the supporters, owner, etc.). As oppose to many managers, MB never take an easy job. Next manager should be someone that can take all the talent that will be collected to the city of leeds and lead it to the top.

Many clubs/teams managed by Bielsa thank him for the infrastructure he developed to transform them (facilities, academy, mentality, and more), we already owe him our thanking, i hope we will be able to repay him by achieving something big.

i dunno i think the bielsa burnout is not acually a thing. he has only coached 3 club teams in the last 20 years for a season. bilbao 2nd season ended better than the 1st and marseille ended with 5 straight wins. leeds 1st season was a mix of players, 2nd covid. not really enough time to make a decision.

Maybe I should bookmark this thread to come back when Bielsa in his 10th season at Leeds lifts the Champions League trophy having won the Premier League three times and done the domestic treble.

Here's my two penneth which comes with a shed load of blind optimism.

I think the Leeds-Bielsa relationship is different.

Unless Biesla is seriously considering retiring/returning home then the family pull seems irrelevant, moving somewhere else doesn't change his estrangement from family or home.

I can't think of any other major club or city that has so embraced their manager above players or anyone else. Just walking round home it is so clear that Bielsa is more like Rocky Balboa in Philly than anything else (yes I know that's fictional, but it's a cinematic affair in my eyes). There are so many new and possible challenges still here that I think are achievable and in reach. If the management, staff or fans lose faith then of course he will feel no ties to the city and the swift departure of Ranieri at Leicester is proof that even miracle workers are shoved out the back door. But this feels different. I suspect at the very least Bielsa does want a year with Leeds in the PL with the fans. I think the feedback loop of his decision making is fairly instant. Just look at how well Rodrigo and Raphinha played tonight and brought extra class. Pretty much every single decision he has made has been validated. The El Loco risk taking if you like is still paying off big time. If you're an investor the buzz around Leeds, the excitement is enough to still turn heads and that will surely be heavily influencing the Leeds management as much as the great results.

Yes he may leave sooner than we think but I like to believe still he is still falling for us as much as we are for him. If Leeds keep the faith I'm optimistic so will he.

Hola...

Hello ... The continuity of Bielsa will depend mainly on how you notice the commitment of the squad in terms of its philosophy, several have been criticized in several meetings the results of matches at this level do not reach with precision since the quality of the rivals does not It is the same, therefore the final result is not the same and that is where we notice so many passes that do not reach their destination, none of them can be reproached for the delivery they simply give the maximum for what they are trained ... As for the substitute I give them a name that is the improved Bielsa system since his game is not so vertical and takes more care of possession ... Gallardo is the ideal coach since he manages the club in the same way as bielsa in the last cup in South America the team The Brazilian did not cross the middle of the court in 85 minutes and was local ... The substitute yes or yes has to character and back

I have tried to improve comprehension....

Hello. The continuation of Bielsa as Leeds’ manager will depend mainly on how he assesses the commitment of the squad to his philosophy. Some (players) have criticised in several meetings the fact that the results of matches at this level do not match expectations, since the quality of the rivals is not the same as before. Therefore the final results are not what they should be and that is because so many passes do not reach their destination. Players cannot be blamed for the failed delivery of passes - they are simply doing their best in terms of how they have been trained. As for the next manager after Bielsa, I can suggest a name that would offer an improvement on the Bielsa system, because his game is not so vertical and he takes more care of possession of the ball: Marcelo Gallardo is the ideal coach. He manages the club in the same way as Bielsa, but in the last South America’s Cup, the Brazilian team did not get beyond the halfway line in 85 minutes and were furious. This replacement (Gallardo) does he or doesn’t he have real guts and backbone??
