https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55727805Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has donated £5,000 to a local primary school to help children access remote learning during lockdown.
Beeston Primary School, located near Leeds' Elland Road stadium, says the money will be invested in technology that can be loaned out and will fund 20 iPads for "those who are most in need".
The school said Bamford, 27, had got in touch "to see how he could help".

Re: Patrick Bamford donating to local school
It's a fantastic thing for him to have done. No knocking it at all. I do wonder though how he chose which school to do it for? What he probably won't know is that a school like Beeston is likely to be among the better funded schools in Leeds (I don't know this for definite about that specific school but I do have an idea of how funding generally works in education) due to its location, the diverse ethnicity and the socio-economic situation of the children and their families who go there. His gesture can never be a bad thing but it's a shame that a footballer should have to feel compelled to do it at all, and there are loads of schools and communities all over the city that would benefit from it. What we really need is the government to sort their funding system out so that schools and families are not relying on the generosity of people like Patrick.
