Peter Lorimer & Mick Bates

Post by NottinghamWhite »

Rumours he’s entered a hospice. A boyhood hero & a true Leeds United legend. Take care Lash.

Also news that Mick Bates is very ill.

Sad times.

Awful news regarding another Leeds legend, I know he’s been ill for awhile now. God bless you Pete.

I wasn't a Leeds fan until 1990 so a bit after his time but watched videos on leeds from 60's-80's like 500 times on VHS as a kid my dad had bought me and he and Eddie Gray were my favourite players. I was in awe of those players and as I watched even for the 499th time I always hoped they would get the European cup they deserved but alas they never did. Sad news in a terrible year off the pitch for the club all round. Best wishes to the mans family.
Legend is thrown around too much these days. good players get confused with the likes of Lorimer.

I’m not going to lie this news, albeit somewhat expected has hit home especially after the recent news on Jack, Norman & Trevor. 526 appearances weighing in with 168 is legend status in my book. Got to know Pete when I was running our members club & a nice a guy you couldn’t wish to meet, once he’d met you he would remember you the next time you’d meet. It’s with fond memories that’ll I’ll remember Pete with memories both on & off the pitch. I’ll be raising a glass later, god bless.

Very bad news, I had heard he was ill though.

Great player, a proper Leeds legend. Peter Lorimer was the first football signature I got as a kid.

Sad, sad, sad. Many great memories. I am sure he will be well looked after.
I once played against Don Revie.

Sad to hear this news, one of my favourite players when i was a young lad. Thoughts are with him and his family.
Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans - keep Marching on Together.

Gave people a lot of pleasure and highs in his playing days in the LUFC strip. So sad
