LufcTalk Hall of Fame Inductee - Norman Hunter

Post by Selby White »

Norman "Bites yer Legs" Hunter as the name suggests was seen by many as Leeds hatchet man but he was much more a great player is a far better description that was loved by fans and fellow professionals alike.

Part of Englands 1966 squad and if hadn't been for Bobby Moore would have got many more caps than he did. Some would say should have despite of Moore, a real quality defender that formed a formidable partnership with Jack Charlton.

Obviously been part of the great Leeds team he earned his share of trophies but you could argue his greatest honour was in 1974 when his fellow professionals made him PFA Player of the Year the first time this was awarded, some great names have since followed but its Norman that tops the list.

For those of us lucky enough to have met Norman you wont need telling that he was a smashing bloke, down to earth with time for everyone.

Before you add your comments lets enjoy a bit of Norman -

Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.
