Everton, Leeds United and Wolves are also interested in signing Broja, who Southampton want to keep beyond the current campaign. Source Team Talk.

This would be one for the summer window, not january I assume. Still think it doesnt make much sense, as he would compete directly with Joffy.

Underwhelmed by progress so far in transfer window. Normally I would be against splashing out in the January window but our injury situation and the potential relegation dogfight means that it is a gamble not to do anything. Aaronson was always going to be a long shot as Salzburg were unlikely to sell until the summer given the fact that they are in the last 16 of Champions league.

Maybe a good loan signing would make sense. But we need to be looking at better players that will bring the club to the next level ala Leicester.

Liverpool also rumoured to be interested in a winger so that may mean that they are no longer interested in Raphina.

Still, it would be good if we could get it done; be an improvement on what we currently have IMHO
Doesn't really make sense. At 27 he is not young enough for us, and plays in a position we do not need strengthen.
Trur if we let Summerville out on loan we need anothwr winger but not a 20M player we need.

I'd envisioned someone like him playing where we've tried and failed with Rodrigo and Roberts. Been a non functioning area since the hey days of Pablo Hernandez

I felt we were at a crossroads in the summer where we needed to make signings like Rodrigo De Paul & Nadez to continue to progress on last seasons performance and push for the top 6. Instead we have rested on our laurels; made a panic buy in James, and may do the same in the coming days. Our well thought out strategic approach with the Under 23s, needs to be complemented by senior recruitment. Our ‘development recruitment’ will only truly pay dividends if we retain our premiership status, and appears somewhat in contrast to our 1st team recruitment.

It would be harsh & unfair to blame Radz, however his lack of cash flow, refusal to sell to QSI, and “done deal” with the 49rs, have led to us failing to retain last seasons momentum, and could lead to him seeing his asset more than halved in value if we find ourselves in the bottom 3 come May.

Just an observation- You could argue the stability Radz & Bielsa have given us, may no longer be there. Why would Radz invest £50m in the playing squad if the sale price of the club is agreed @ £xm net of debt; and, why would a player sign for a team where the coach is so important, when that coach is only committed to that club for a further 5 months.

Agreed would have preferred to have gone for De Paul or Cunha or Noa Lang rather than James or Firpo. Bielsa keeps saying that new players have to be far better /better than those they replace. Only issue is that some of our purchases have not worked out as well as we would have liked. If you stand still in this world or PL you are going backwards

Given Bielsa has wanted James for many years, I think that transfer was anything but a panic buy...

Firstly, both De Paul and Cunha went to Atletico Madrid. We can't expect to compete with a club like that when it comes to signing players.

Secondly, Lang would've been a very interesting signing of course and he will end up in the Premier League or La Liga very soon, but it was never likely that he would be sold in the summer, given that Brugge in 20/21 season had him on loan with obligation to fulfill the transfer July 1st 2021. To believe in summer that Brugge would move him on just weeks after they fulfilled the transfer was naive.

This is the problem with modern football and all rumours in the press is that it gives us the impression that it's quite easy to sign the good players, then it's obviously not that easy, especially for us as we are nowhere near the top of the food chain of European football.

Good post. These stupid and baseless rumours about the likes of De Paul, Cunha, Nandez or whoever South American soup of the day, which a lot of people believed were just nothing else but Twitter/agent noise. We were never seriously after them, but for some reason (maybe they are good in Football Manager of Fifa or stuff like that) they are still the ones we should have signed, even if Leeds were never had any chance of them.
