Tony Currie

Post by Westminster »

A little blast from the past when my brother phoned me yesterday.

He volunteers at a dog rescue place out in the sticks in North Nottinghamshire and a big, affable old guy comes in looking to adopt a dog. "Don't I know you?" asks my brother - and it was only Tony Currie!

Anyway, they had a cup of tea and a chat and TC is 71 now (crazy really, Tony Currie's in his 70s!) and still coaching youngsters at Sheffield United.

I used to love Tony Currie when he played for us. Not a typical Leeds player really but he was a star in what was, by the late-70s, a declining team. I remember being really dismayed when TC left for QPR - and it all seemed to go downhill from there.

ps. I'm not sure how far they got with the dog :!:

Tony Currie was my first Leeds hero (I was just too late for the Revie era).
Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans - keep Marching on Together.

He was indeed a bright star in a darkening sky. Gave us Leeds fans plenty to be happy about
