Sad news that Mick Bates has passed away, aged 73.

Ah, such sad news. A fine player and a real gentleman with a wonderful attitude to his Leeds career, he always said he was immensely proud just to be a part of Don's Super Leeds, he was never .aggrieved to be substitute or stand-in.

Sad news. Played against him a couple of times, once for Harrogate Town against Leeds United in a pre-season friendly. RIP.
I once played against Don Revie.

Great servant to the club, RIP Mick Bates. Another one of Don Revie's boys gone.

Mick Bates goal effectively won us the Fairs Cup in '71.
