Barca and Chelsea now similar odds at the bookies.

This is probably off-topic but why is Richarlison going to Tottenham? Aren't his best positions already occupied by the past two golden boot winners?HalifaxWhite wrote:Richarlison to Spurs for 50mil plus add ons up to 60. Surely our price for Raphinha has to go up now. If we sold Raph for the same price it's a joke. He's 10x the player Richarlison is, also way more impact mon the national team too.

I wouldn't be concerned about how much money we are getting up front and how much comes in installments from either the Kalvin or Raphinha deal.
Two reasons - firstly, we'll be doing the same with every deal we sign, it's normal on transfers to spread the cost over the life of the contract and secondly, our ability to spend won't be impacted by whether we receive the money up front or in the future, we have a contract saying we will get the money, so our banks/board members know the money is coming back in, so will lend us any cash we need now on that basis - it might cost us a few points of interest on the pound but in the grand scheme of things it's negligible.
So even if we get just £10m up front from Raphinha it won't stop us spending all £60m+ of the cash if we need to, we'll just stage the payments and borrow to cover any gaps due to timing of incoming revenue.

The common spread of cost over contract length is amortisation and used to determine player values and worth as well as being used the calculate the FFP figures. Its not that the fee is actually spread across the full term. That rarely actually happens in practice for a full fee to be spread over 5 years. Maybe 2 years or 3 in rarer cases but not full contract length.CheeznOnionPasty wrote:I wouldn't be concerned about how much money we are getting up front and how much comes in installments from either the Kalvin or Raphinha deal.

And I disagree that it doesn't matter. Much better to have the money, because then we can pay cash up front on our deals which usually nets a better deal with the selling club. That's my view anyway.

Raphinha isn't doing himself any favors with the Chelsea fanbase at this point.Selby White wrote:Barca and Chelsea now similar odds at the bookies.

Kalvin having his medical at City tomorrow, presumably the transfer will be announced shortly afterwards.

Seen a few Spurs fans annoyed about this. They'd prefer to go for Rapha but seems they're going down the cheaper option...bc grinner wrote:This is probably off-topic but why is Richarlison going to Tottenham? I don't disagree with you at all, I was just using a broad brush and you're being more nuanced, you're absolutely correct though.HalifaxWhite wrote:The common spread of cost over contract length is amortisation and used to determine player values and worth as well as being used the calculate the FFP figures. The only real point I was making is people shouldn't get too bent out of shape if we don't get all the money up front, for sure it makes things easier but in the grand scheme of things it's not going to hold us back if some of the money is paid in installments.

He could fail the medical alongside Raph as well when decided.Barlow Boy wrote:Kalvin having his medical at City tomorrow, presumably the transfer will be announced shortly afterwards.
