I didn’t see this happening this summer, but after watching him at full time, walking round the pitch at the end of the Brighton game, all emotional, I think he’s gone.

If he’s going to City, no complaints from me. Good luck to him.

With respect to Kalvin, if we get relegated he's definitely gone. If we stay up I think it's 50:50.

Honestly I feel for the lad, I can't imagine being put in that situation where your heart and loyalty is pulling you in one direction but your ambition and drive takes you in a different direction. How on earth do you decide and how stressful must that be, thinking of the way people will react, worrying about letting his family down but also worrying about getting to the end of your career and having regrets about what could have been.

If he goes to a Champions League club then I for one will just wish him well and follow his career closely, will always have a soft spot for Kalvin no matter what happens and he's given immense service to our club.

At least with Kalvin I think we can be 99% sure he won't go to scum or any other club we all have a rivalry/dislike for.

In terms of what's best for the club if we get relegated would I rather have Kalvin or 50-60 million quid - difficult to say, also depends on how we're going to play and what role he'd be deployed in. I think he's clearly better in a really deep, single-pivot role for us and if we're going to be playing that way I'd want to keep him. If we're going to be trying to convert him into a more traditional English #8 then it might be better to take the money and spend it on specialists in that role.

Trying not to worry about ins and outs until its confirmed which division we are in.
More or less agree with this think Cheese&onion as it about right.

Same old guff with such reports, especially at this time of the season.

I try to ignore them, I absolutely hate this sort of trash, I've seen it too many times in the 50-ish years of supporting the team.

I have to say though that whatever fee, if there is one, is agreed for a player, we won't see a large % of it spent on replacement players and I think anyone expecting any other outcome might be over-optimistic.
Why would we not see a large % of it used on players ?

I doubt they could get away with selling players and not replacing them. It would turn into a Cellino situation

Because I've seen what happens bud and if we're a big club then we don't need to sell our players. There is rarely if ever a benefit to selling our best players. If we stay up and still sell him then it's clear to me that we need the money, which then will mean we don't spend most of the fee as it's possibly already been spent or is owed. I know you think we're in a very healthy financial state and making lots of profit but I don't. That's not me looking to argue with you or disrespect your POV, I just honestly think it's a very bad sign when we sell our best assets. I truly do not remember it ever being a good thing or being for good reason as far as the fans are concerned.

ps I hope this doesn't look aggressive etc, it's not meant to be :)

Oh I know and It doesn't appear aggressive. I am not really basing it on opinion though, I am basing it off the numbers in the club accounts. I don't think we are making lots of profit. It is almost irrelevant these days in football. But Leeds have plenty of dry gunpowder now by being able to spend 75 mill 2 seasons in a row and still post 5-25 million in profit.

Even Dortmund have to sell their best players. We are going for the Leicester model supposedly so that would involve selling our best players every few years in a similar fashion until we have gone up a few levels. It is very hard to hold on to players these days and I hate it and football culture now. I love Kalvin but he is not worth what I think City will pay for him. I am also very worried he will decline a bit now the Bielsa system is obviously gone and his value will decrease very quickly.

The current hot English players are very overvalued. Maguire was 80 million, how many would pay 30 for him now? Grealish already proven he was way overvalued at 100. I think you sell these types of assets at the top personally. Ideally Raph would sign a year contract extension on big wages and we would see him play unreal at the world cup and then sell him at the top there too. In this day and age that is what a well run club would do.

It isn't the football culture we want but it is the one we have. I wouldn't mind seeing the arse fall out of football tv deals and football to experience a bit of a crash to come back to reality but I can't see it.

That’s what I thought until I saw him at the end of the Brighton game, he’s gone either way for me.
