Did anyone talk about inactive in the 70s?

Nice to see the baggies acknowledge Tinkler''s mistake(s).

Things often come down to one game. Lots happen to bring you to that point but that point arrives and when it does a refereeing stupid person up is a heartbreaking way to miss out. All the what ifs in the world don't change that. Robbed.

But you were banned from Elland Road for four games during the following season?
If memory serves me correctly it was the first 5 games of the season. I can remember going to Huddersfield and Hull to watch us. I of course stand corrected if I'm wrong.

Definitely four games, NW.

Blimey, didn't want to re-open this thread, but only to respond to Davy's post.

If anyone needs to know about the inactive rule back in 1971, there are books available. I've repeated the Offside laws of the game for that season, on here, and I'm tired.

If Astle himself had been ruled offside anyway, and the game had finished 1-1, then all other games went the same way until Arsenal's last game, then Arsenal would have needed to win 2-0 to win the title.

You cannot say that if Leeds had drawn 1-1 they'd have won the title. Arsenal did what they needed to do in their final game, given the league standings.

Can't see me ever reading a book about offside tbh. Two points still stand - always comes down to one game in the end and those baggies who played ( nice to see that ons) agreed with Leeds fans. Case proven and not for the first time

Wow, a world where one game decides an entire season. What a world that would be to live in.

Happy you got a fan, ONS?

It was a serious question.
