Davy, sorry, should have added to my post that I was very impressed with your paintings. The Scrabo Tower one will be great when its finished (only joking).
I once played against Don Revie.

I don't recall Scrabo Tower being that wonky... only messing, they are very good. Would love to have the time to do that. Always enjoyed Art. Do you do it from a photo or on scene ?
In my limited time to myself I like to indulge in a bit of Krav Maga. I find it quite practical and can apply a lot of it to everyday situations, if your unlucky enough to find yourself needing it....

Israeli self defence a mix of many martial art forms, can be brutal as it's also an offensive tactic not just defensive. We did a small bit of Ju Jitsu years ago and our instructor had just come back from a training course. None of us had heard of it either.

Krav Maga - sounds like a defensive midfielder from Ubekistan.

Re: Hobbies
Yeah it was designed by the Israeli special forces. It can be as easy as you make it. It covers basic self defence from attacks from punches, chokes, kicks, knives, sticks, guns etc. Some of the gun defence looks good for the cameras, although debatable if it works in real life.
However the defences and counter attacks from your general street fight scenario, are very good. Your taught to defend, attack and get out of the situation. It places emphasis on avoiding a fight or doing what you can to defend and get away. Some techniques are brutal like eye gouging, taking the knee out or any groin strikes but those are used on a graduated response which is proportionate to the level of violence encountered from your attacker.
Would recommend it, if there is a class near you.
