Hello from a new member

Post by Sechwa »

Hey there all.

My name is Seb and I've been a Leeds fan since New Years Day 2001 (11 years old) when my Dad took me to Elland Road to see Leeds 1-1 Middlesbrough. The atmosphere in the stadium on the day got me hooked. I would consider myself an optimistic but realistic supporter.

I work for Sports Interactive on the game series 'Football Manager' and have been lurking around here for a year or two with this being my debut post. In addition to my day job I am the Leeds United researcher and have been since FM2016.

Cheers,
Seb.

Welcome to the forum pal, enjoy .

Forgive my ignorance  , but what does a Leeds United reasearcher do ?.
When you retire, you switch bosses - from the one that hired you, to the one that married you.

It is the role of a researcher to provide all of the information for putting real life Leeds United into Football Manager. That includes details on Elland Road, finances, staff and player ratings, and so on.
Chris Wood not good enough? That'll be my fault :D
I do it alongside my regular job at Sports Interactive working on FM.

Thanks for the clarification mate, I don't play Football Manager but I get it now. Quite an interesting job, although time consuming I suspect.

Thanks again.

Yeah I enjoy it very much. The Leeds United research is extra-curricular really, my day-to-day job involves the finances, training, progression, injuries, infrastructure and other long term aspects of the game. Fiddling around with Pontus Jansson's Aggression attribute is a welcome break every now and then :D I couldn't really put an actual time figure on how long the research takes as it tends to be an ongoing thing, with a little bit done here and there as real-life developments come to light. At this time of year there is certainly more time devoted to it than at others however, as it is obviously the ideal time to undertake large reviews of the playing staff with the forthcoming season in mind.
