Mate, it's an incredible place : Music City.
I last went nearly 20 years ago - twice, I might add - and it's non-stop. The Wild Horse Saloon is a massive club and a great place to end up. We happened to be there for the annual Battle Of The Bands final and met Travis Tritt in the bar. He had a pint with us and was a good laugh and we got everyone around us drinking Bailey's because one of us asked for it in an English accent and they couldn't get enough of it
( the accent, though the Bailey's was a close second).
After three days we were a bit countried out though and found a little rock bar further down the same hill. That made for a refreshing change
We also caught an NHL game - Predators v Blackhawks - which was pricey but well worth the experience. Good sport, ice hockey, and less boring than rounders or padded rugby in my opinion because there's fewer breaks.
That was at the immense Nashville Arena where, just three days after the place was covered in ice, we then saw the World Rodeo Championships.
Now that was mind-blowing. Watching a bucking bronco or a bull on TV is one thing : seeing that power and danger up close and for real is altogether different. The smells for one thing, but the noise, the passion of the crowd, the fact every single person in the place is wearing a cowboy hat - in fact they're all over the streets during the day and it's as natural as anyone wearing trainers or a t-shirt ..
Amazing, amazing town.
Enjoy !
