Hi from Houston

Post by thevicar »

Hello all, life long Leeds fan here from the glory days. From Bucks but moved to the USA in '05. Back then you could only see Premier League footy on TV so when relegated, i thought...'no problem, we'll back in a season or 2 and i can get watching them again.' Well, you know the rest... anyway, enjoy this forum as it keeps me up to date and that's been a challenge over the last few years. Definitely a feeling of optimism right now
despite the recent stumble. Owner and manager seem to be a breath of fresh air badly needed....
Cheers!

Hello welcome to the forum.

Have actually visited Houston a few years ago though.

Hi - welcome to the forum.

I lived in Houston for four years until 1996 out at Copperfield. You're on the map in Katy so perhaps you know one of our favourite haunts Lupe Toritillas at Highway 6 and I-10?
Might have to take an interest in the Premier League now....

Thanks; not seen that one but plenty of Tex Mex in the area as you'll know! Katy has grown a lot in the last 15 years....i think approaching .5M population now...you probably would be shocked! Been here since '12...

Welcome in, where in Bucks? I'm in Berks.
I once played against Don Revie.

Yes my friends who are still there say it has changed. Katy was actually a separate town back then and now it looks joined up with Houston.

Here's Lupe's

Part of the charm used to be that it was very ramshackle, ie very un-American....no a/c, mis-matched tableware, you even had to go through the kitchen to reach the men's room! I'm not a huge fan of Tex-Mex but their food was delicious and the margaritas were a thing of wonder....
