The blahblah of the forum
Re: The blabla of the forum
We got our first colour set in 1969. I remember because we had just moved from Leeds to Maidenhead. I had got a raise so we splashed out.Selby White wrote:We all had black and white tvs back thenjohnh wrote:Just watched a repeat of 'The Sweeney' on ITV4. Bit of nostalgia as I remember seeing the original (I think in the 1970's). Continuity not at the top of its game then. In one scene, the fuz 'tail' a car in their green Rover. When they arrive at the destination they are in a brown Rover.

Got a birthday card from my brother (tomorrow, St Paddy's day) On the front it says 'For a Footy Fan, Inside this card are 3 words every Footy-fan wants to hear'. Inside it says:
MANCHESTER UNITED NIL.
MANCHESTER UNITED NIL.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR JOHN. (i know its tomorrow but ah well I've never been one for convention) Forget Kenneth Clarke....there's only enough room for one Father of this house. Many happy returns John.

Happy Birthday Sir John, have a good one
When you retire, you switch bosses - from the one that hired you, to the one that married you.

Many thanks all. Have had a great day so far. Out to lunch - two glasses of red! - daughter no.1 drove us home! A lot of people said nice things like 'you don't look 83', most said I only look 82. Wish I only felt like 82. Apologies if I have posted this before but when I was about 10 years old I asked my mother why, if I was born on St Patricks day, I wasn't called Patrick John instead of John Patrick. She explained that as my older brother was called Michael and at the time I was born there was a surfeit of Pat and Mick jokes doing the rounds, she didn't want us to be known as Pat and Mick. True story that.
